Texas launches five homers, routs Tarleton State

The Texas Longhorns launched five home runs, including three consecutive blasts in the second inning, to power past the Tarleton State Texans 16-2 on Saturday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in the NCAA Austin Regional.

Aiden Robbins, who finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs, started the second-inning fireworks with a three-run homer. Carson Tinney followed with a shot to center, and Anthony Pack Jr. completed the trifecta with a home run to left-center, giving Texas a 6-0 lead. Ethan Mendoza and Adrian Rodriguez also added solo home runs later in the game. Tinney went 2-for-2 and two RBIs, while Pack drove in two. Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Texas starting pitcher Dylan Volantis pitched 6⅔ innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out seven and walking only one. The Longhorns set the single-season program record for strikeouts.

Tarleton State issued 17 walks and hit one batter. The control issues were most glaring in the fourth inning, when Texas scored five runs without a hit, capitalizing on eight walks and two errors to take a 12-0 lead. Tarleton State's only runs came in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run double by Raphael Smeenk, who went 1-for-3. Rayner Heinrich led the Texans with two hits.
