British Grand Prix: Ferrari's Charles Leclerc takes victory, race finishes under safety car - as it happened

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc has taken victory for the first time at the British Grand Prix.

He passed pole sitter Kimi Antonelli into Turn 1 at Silverstone and led the race comfortably from there.

Mercedes' George Russell crossed the line in second after the race finished under the Safety Car.

Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari finished third after serving a five-second time penalty for a false start early in the race.

He also had to report to the stewards' office after the race for a yellow flag infringement, but he avoided a penalty and kept his third-place podium position.

McLaren's Lando Norris finished in fourth, with Red Bull's Isack Hadjar rounding out the top five.

Hadjar's teammate Max Verstappen had a spin with several laps of the race remaining.

Antonelli, who started in pole position, crossed the line in ninth, but was he was handed a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits. The Italian youngster was also having issues with his Mercedes which left him down in 16th.

It was Leclerc's ninth race win in his Formula 1 career and he said afterwards: "It feels incredible. Maybe it did not finish the way I would have dreamed of, but to win after the last few weekends that have been particularly difficult is incredible.

"All the work that we put into trying to get the feeling back in the car... I felt like I had found something yesterday between the sprint race and qualifying, but I had to confirm that today, and today the feeling was back where it needs to be, so I'm so incredibly happy."
