The earliest dates Arsenal or Man City could win the Premier League title

The Premier League title race between Manchester City and Arsenal is currently in the Gunners' hands.

Mikel Arteta's side currently lead by two points after a much-changed City saw off Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Should the top two sides win both of their remaining league matches, Arsenal will be crowned champions on the final day by two points, meaning it is firmly in their own hands.

But should either side slip up and drop further points, the equation could change.

When is the earliest Arsenal could win the title?

After City dispatched Palace last week, the earliest Arsenal can win the title is on May 19, when City take on Bournemouth on the south coast.

Should the Gunners beat already relegated Burnley the day before, any points dropped by City at the Vitality would confirm the title.

When is the earliest Man City can win the title?

Things are a little different for City.

The earliest City can win the league is on the the final day, provided Arsenal now seriously slip up.

Let's say that the Gunners were to misfire vs. Burnley or Palace, and only win one of the two.

Meanwhile, City take advantage and win their final two games.

That would leave City on 83 points and Arsenal on 82 as the season's final whistle is blown.

Can either side seal the trophy in front of their own fans?

Arsenal can no longer seal it against Burnley, meaning only City will get the chance to win it at home.

On the final day, it's City who are at home as they welcome Aston Villa, while Arsenal travel to Crystal Palace.

If both sides win their penultimate matches, they'll go into the final day with 82 and 80 points respectively.

City would be able to win it at the Etihad by beating Aston Villa, while Arsenal lose at Palace -- or draw, depending on the goal difference situation by then.

As it stands, City are one better after putting three past Palace.

The Gunners will know that if they beat Burnley, they can head to south London in the knowledge that a win wraps up their first Premier League title since 2004.
