BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken said he's looking forward to an upcoming meeting with Deion Sanders.

Deion, the father of Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, hinted at the meetup during an interview last month on his YouTube show, "The Barbershop."

"I'm open anytime he wants to meet," Monken said Wednesday. "... I really am looking forward to it. I got a ton of respect for him, and I got a ton of respect for Shedeur because all he has done since I've been here is work. That's all he has done is compete."

In the interview, Deion said he wanted to speak to Monken about the best way to coach Shedeur, whom he coached all the way through college.

"I want to meet him because I think it's vital that as a coach, not the dad, I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going," Deion said. "That wasn't asked of me a year ago. I don't understand it. Even a guy like Travis Hunter being drafted to Jacksonville, and I've had him for the last three [years], don't you think you would want to talk to me to ask me what gets him going and what backs him off? You would want to know that."

Deion was supposed to go to Cleveland to meet with Monken in May, but Deion had to shoot a commercial, which interfered with timing.

Shedeur, a 2025 fifth-round pick who started seven games as a rookie, is competing with Deshaun Watson to be the Browns' starting quarterback.

After Wednesday's OTA practice, Monken said he believes Cleveland has "two starting-level quarterbacks."

"I think both quarterbacks have played well enough ... every day, I kind of lean one way or the other," Monken said.
