Our pick: Duke at Wake Forest
Why you should come along: Not the best slate in the world, as five teams have cupcake nonconference games leading up to their regular-season finales. Yawn. But there is one conference matchup that is more intriguing than the rest. That would be Duke at Wake Forest. This game could end up determining bowl hopes for one team -- or both.
Heather has been on the record as saying Wake Forest will be a sleeper pick in the ACC. So in order for her projection to become reality, Wake Forest has to win this game. Duke, meanwhile, is out to prove that it can continue with the momentum created last season and go back to a bowl game. The Blue Devils have a very favorable nonconference schedule that could lead to a 4-0 record. Conference play will be much harder, so this could end up being a must-win game for postseason eligibility.
Duke won this matchup a year ago, beating Wake Forest for the first time since 1999. In fact, the last time Duke beat Wake Forest in consecutive seasons was 1998-99. No doubt that will be used as a source of motivation on the Deacs' sideline.
