The Boston Celtics (1-2, 1-0 home) host the Toronto Raptors (3-1, 1-1 road) on Wednesday night at TD Garden (7:30 p.m., CSN). Here's what to watch for:

• Home sweet home: The Celtics will play eight of their next 11 games at home and, despite a challenging November schedule, are hoping to get a boost from playing in friendly confines. After a sizzling season opener here last Wednesday, Boston went 0-2 during a brief two-game Texas road trip and must start stronger than it did against both Houston and Dallas. A visit from Toronto, the defending Atlantic Division champs, is a nice way to gauge exactly where this team stands early in the 2014-15 campaign.
• Raptors at a glance: Toronto is playing the second night of a back-to-back while coming off a 100-88 win over the dinged-up Oklahoma City Thunder. The Raptors will be shorthanded as forward Amir Johnson is not expected to travel due to a sore left ankle. Toronto's only misstep so far came against the Miami Heat (a game in which DeMar DeRozan still went for 30 points). [Update: The Raptors PR also announced that Jonas Valanciunas is doubtful due to a right hand contusion.]
• What they do well: No charity: The Raptors own the second best free throw attempt rate in the NBA and are averaging a league-high 38.3 free throw attempts per game. DeRozan and Kyle Lowry are combining to average nearly 20 attempts per game at the charity stripe. Boston's frisky guards have to maintain their aggressiveness without putting those players on the line.
• Loose Balls: The Raptors own the best turnover percentage in the league to this point, suggesting they are maximizing their possessions. ... Old friend Greg Stiemsma made his 2014-15 regular-season debut against the Thunder (4 points, 3 rebounds, 5 fouls in 13 minutes).
