The Chicago Bulls signed forward Jarvis Varnado to a 10-day contract on Tuesday.
"He blocks shots. We've kept abreast of what he's done,"coach Tom Thibodeau said Tuesday. "We followed him in college and of course in the D-League, Boston, Miami. He's gotten better obviously, since he played in college. So he has a lot of the qualities that we're looking for. We're excited to have him here."
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Varnado averaged 14.1 points and 11 rebounds in 22 games with the Iowa Energy of the NBA D-League. Varnado was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NBA draft and has played in 13 regular-season NBA games. Last season he played for the Heat, Boston Celtics and the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the D-League.
The Bulls' roster now stands at 13.
