On Friday, the Memphis Grizzlies opened up a preseason roster spot as they placed guard Tony Wroten on waivers. The Grizzlies were quick to fill that position as they signed forward/center Vince Hunter on Sunday, according to The Commercial Appeal.

"We want to make sure we don’t overload our veteran bigs with the remainder of preseason," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said. "Hunter is very familiar with us. He’s a very hard-playing, tough rebounder."

Hunter, undrafted in 2105, played with the Grizzlies in July as a member of their Summer League roster and impressed the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls signed Hunter on Sept. 16 and waived him Oct. 4.

"He’s in shape. He was in camp in Chicago. He was with us during summer league. He’s an easy player to assimilate. We need to protect ourselves upfront right now."

The Grizzlies are back to a max 20-man preseason roster.
