WASHINGTON -- New York Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon has been named the National League Player of the Week.
Colon shut out the Miami Marlins on Sunday to extend his scoreless streak to 25 innings. He became the oldest pitcher in franchise history to toss a shutout.
Colon, 42, is the oldest major league pitcher with a scoreless streak of that length since Hoyt Wilhelm went 25 1/3 scoreless innings in 1967 at age 44.
