NEW YORK -- New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada's fractured right leg will not require surgery, manager Terry Collins said.
"A real clean break, so no need for pins or anything else," Collins said before Monday's Game 3.
Tejada fractured the right fibula for the second time in three seasons when Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Chase Utley aggressively slid into him on Saturday at Dodger Stadium. Tejada has been replaced on the National League Division Series roster by Matt Reynolds.
Tejada also suffered a fracture to that right fibula as the result of colliding with outfielder Andrew Brown while pursuing a shallow fly ball on Sept. 18, 2013. Tejada is not expected to have complications as the result of breaking the same bone.
