OMAHA 8, LAS VEGAS 2: Sean Gilmartin surrendered three first-inning runs and the 51s never overcame the early deficit Wednesday. The runs were unearned because shortstop Gavin Cecchini had a throwing error after fielding a leadoff grounder. Gilmartin ultimately was charged with four runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks in six innings. Box
BINGHAMTON 8, BOWIE 4: In his second start since a demotion from Las Vegas, Rafael Montero allowed three runs on five hits, a career-high six walks and a hit batter in 5⅓ innings. He struck out four and qualified for the win. Trailing 2-1, the B-Mets struck for seven runs on six hits in the fifth inning to complete the series sweep. Victor Cruzado led off the fifth with a walk and took third on Jayce Boyd's single. Xorge Carrillo then delivered an RBI double and Champ Stuart had a run-scoring single. Carrillo later scored on a wild pitch and Stuart came home on Amed Rosario's sacrifice fly. Dominic Smith's two-run homer chased Bowie starter Jason Garcia. Phillip Evans capped the inning's scoring with an RBI double. Box
TAMPA 6, ST. LUCIE 0: David Thompson produced St. Lucie's only two hits -- both singles. Yankees starter James Reeves tossed seven scoreless innings. Jeff Hendrix gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead with an RBI single against P.J. Conlon in the third inning. Conlon needed 93 pitches to navigate five innings. He only gave up one run while striking out seven. Jorge Mateo, returning from a two-week team-imposed suspension, homered against Kelly Secrest in the seventh to put the Yankees up 2-0. GCL CARDINALS 10, GCL METS 6 (10 innings): Yeudy Colon surrendered four runs in the 10th inning. Starter Josh Prevost allowed three runs (one earned) in four innings in his second appearance at that level since returning following a six-week absence. Desmond Lindsay went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in his fourth Gulf Coast League game. Lindsay had been ticketed for Brooklyn to open the season but suffered a hamstring pull while tuning up for the season. Box
