CHICAGO -- Derek Jeter tied Luis Aparicio for second for the most games played at shortstop, but all that wear and tear hasn't caught up to Jeter.
At least, that's what Joe Girardi said before Friday night's game against the White Sox.
"I think he has looked pretty good, I do," Girardi said of Jeter, who is hitting .261 with a homer and eight RBIs. "For the most part, had the one little glitch with his quad for a few days [in April,] but he has been out there on a regular basis so it has been pretty good."
On Friday, Jeter appeared in his 2,583 career game at short, tying Aparicio, who played the majority of his career with the White Sox.

Jeter will not catch Omar Vizquel, who appeared in 2,709 games at the position unless he changes his mind about retirement.
"It is amazing what he has done in his career," Girardi said. "The consistency, still being able to play shortstop. It is really amazing."
Girardi says he thinks the Yankees deserve to share the credit with their captain.
"I think it is not only a credit to him, it is a credit to the Yankees and that they decided this is our guy," Girardi said. "This guy is going to play here for a long time. They signed him to a long free-agent contract and then signed him to another one. I think you have to give credit to both groups. Derek lived up to the long-term contract and the Yankees rewarded him.
"His effort, the winters, during the year, taking care of his body. Taking care of himself at night. You don't read about Derek at two or three in the morning. That's just not who he is. He understands he has a responsibility to the team and he takes care of himself."
Unlike Vizquel, Jeter has never played another position besides short. Girardi said he never has had a conversation about ever moving Jeter.
Notes: Girardi just put Mark Teixeira at DH with a day game Saturday. He is undecided if Jeter will DH or have Saturday off against left-hander John Danks.
