Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal said Monday wide receiver Cam Vaughn has been dismissed from the team.
Though he did not disclose a reason when he made the announcement during his weekly appearance on WQAM Radio in Miami, Cristobal said later Monday during his media availability, "You make moves that are strictly for the betterment of the team."
"Philosophically, you want it to work for everybody," Cristobal said. "You work endless days and nights so it can work. And then there comes a time where decisions have to be made. That's just the way it is. It's a process that nothing or nobody gets in the way of being 1-0. In terms of when you make moves, you make moves that are strictly for the betterment of the team. That's why they're made."
Vaughn transferred to Miami from West Virginia in January and was expected to be a deep passing game option for the Hurricanes offense.
Last season, Vaughn had 35 receptions for 541 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 15.5 yards a catch.
