That concludes our coverage of this game. It ended rather early than many of us expected, but one can hope that Pakistan will put up a better show at Lord's. Until then, it is goodbye!

Joe Root: Brilliant performance. We came into this match after the Hundred. But there was clarity with how we approached this match. The bowlers found the right areas and once we got ahead in the game, we showed maturity on how to manage the conditions. It is very exciting to see this complete performance and the variety that these bowlers bring. We found a really good tempo with Cox coming in at three and playing with calmness in these bowling friendly conditions. We played what was in front of us and when we had the opportunities to put pressure on Pakistan by scoring quickly, we did. There will be a different challenge at Lord's and we have time to prepare for that. For now its time for us to enjoy this brilliant performance.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha: England have outplayed us and it is fair to say. We have made many mistakes. Our batting is inexperience in these conditions but they need to be consistent. There was moisture when we bowled but our bowlers did not make the most of it. We do have bowlers who can click 140kph but these three fast bowlers had done well in West Indies and these conditions suit them. I still back them. We need to eradicate mistakes and comeback stronger in the next match. I am very happy for Ali Usman because of the way he bowled in these conditions. Also very happy for how Abdullah Shafique batted. Hopefully Babar will comeback in the next match and his presence will give a boost to our batting.

The player of the match is Ollie Robinson: It was a great way to start by taking wicket on the first ball. That's what my role is to set the momentum. I was just trying to be consistent because I have not been feeling my rhythm, which I spoke about earlier. It was a good wicket to bowl on as it was nipping both ways. I had a hard six weeks before this Test and was working with the ECB medical team on my fitness. So that has helped me maintain my speeds throughout both innings. I am still not there yet, but this was a pleasing start. I looked to swing the ball in the second innings as the pitch had slowed down a little and was not nipping as fast as it was in the first innings.

Daisy : "This test match took only 2 days, if we remove raining periods."

Juwel: "Downfall or transition period?" -- This from Osman Samiuddin might answer your question

Anon: "@commentator: Did you study Medicine at St George's.. I knew a medical student named Ahsan Iftikhar at St George's, London, who graduated as a Doctor few months back.. surely it can't be you??" -- Definitely not me.

Rory: "Then that's sure losing by two innings abrar? "

Dhonz: "It's really sad to see just how much off a cliff Pakistan cricket has fallen. You could at least rely on them to produce a few tearaway quicks bowling 140 even if they weren't always that accurate. Nowadays we get trundlers, collapses and the usual shambolic performances in the field. Rasool's piece hits hard." -- For those who did not read Danyal's piece.

Abrar: "Pakistan could've batted a third time and still lost by an innings... "

It took only 37.3 overs for England to bundle out this fragile batting line up. A perfect start to Root's second stint as England's Test captain as his men thrash Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs. Plenty of questions for Pakistan before the second Test at Lord's, which begins on Thursday next week.

Archer to Mohammad Abbas, OUT, And that concludes Pakistan's misery. Clears his front leg to launch the length ball outside off down the ground but it is ballooned to behind square on off and Lawrence takes an easy catch taking a few steps backwards from gully.

Atkinson to Mohammad Rizwan, OUT, Think of his wicket in New York! That's what has exactly happened here. Goes for a slog sweep off the length ball which was angling into his off stump but it ends up being an ugly hack. The off stumps is knocked out of the ground and Atkinson finally has his first wicket after being disciplined all day.
