10:05pm That will be all from us for tonight. We will be back with more action tomorrow. Until then, on behalf of all of us here at ESPNcricinfo, it is goodbye!
Khuzaima Tanveer, Player of the Match: The plan was simple. Just trying to go through some swinging deliveries. Was just going for wickets. (Which wicket he liked best) I think the Gurbaz one. (On his batting also coming good) If you ask every bowler, he will definitely go for the batting (laughs). Every bowler likes batting too much.
Lockie Ferguson, Desert Vipers captain: (On Tanveer's spell) He has been amazing for us all season. Last season, he was great for us. With the bat, winning us games and tonight with the ball, it was outstanding and amazing to watch. He has played a lot of cricket leading up. His rhythm is working well and ball is coming out well. He is in a good space. Nice to see Max and Sam join together for a big partnership.
James Vince, Gulf Giants captain: He (Tanveer) bowled really well, credit to him. We could look back and see what we could have done differently. Behind the game early. We fought back well to get (to 157). Mayers had a good impact. Asif as well. Best pitch we have played on here. Felt a little under par. Had to take early wickets. Got one but could not build enough pressure. First game of the tournament where we have been outplayed from the beginning. (Disparity in bowling first and second due to dew) It is, especially on a better wicket. When the ball gets wet, it skids on better. It does not determine the game. We were outplayed today but it is a factor as well.
9:50pm A clinical and commanding run-chase. Fakhar and Nawaz could not do much, but Curran and Holden could. They put together an unbeaten 123-run stand and that truly knocked the stuffing out of the Giants. This display will also do Holden a world of good, given he was retired out in the Vipers' previous game, which also saw Nicholas Pooran decline an opportunity to stump the batter because he was struggling.
As for the Giants, they just did not have enough on the board. They could not pose a lot of questions with the new ball either and once Curran and Holden set out their stall, it was a long way back for the Giants. They have only lost two matches this season, but both of those have now come against the Vipers.
Just six needed now. Thushara to bowl
