That's all from us tonight at ESPNcricinfo. On behalf of Chandand and Raghav, this is Sreshth saying bye bye. See you tomorrow for more cricket on the final day of 2025. Ta-da!
Player of the Match, Prenelan Subrayen, for his tidy three-wicket haul: "It was just about playing how I normally play at Kingsmead, it's my favourite ground to play. Stock-standard Kingsmead. We are used to these kind of wickets for the one-dayers for the Dolphins. I was very familiar. Everything stems from the top-down, people are leading by example. Mentally and tactically smart."
Winning captain Du Plessis: "It was nice to know what you're chasing but it certainly wasn't easy batting in the second innings. Scrappy win, bonus point, very happy. Both Conway and Williamson are timers of the ball and want pace on the ball. So thought I'll throw something at them that'll stop. Subrayen playing his first game, on his home ground...tactically that's what we were thinking. Finger spinners get a lot on tacky surfaces. Quality bowling today. I don't think De Villiers was thinking he'd keep at all this season but I told him yesterday that he may have to keep at some time. In T20 cricket, you have to be versatile. On a wicket like that, on the question of Donovan, how many balls would a keeper really catch? Pacers bowled well too but spinners were difficult."
Losing captain Markram: "We read that wicket horribly wrong. Looked good to the eye. Played nicely couple of days ago. But caught off guard. They put the balls in the right areas. Quite a few runs short tonight. A score of 120+ would've had us in the game. We could've put a nice fight. Our bowlers started well with wickets up front. Good innings from Rilee to take the game away from us. Proud of our bowling effort. [on meeting JSK few days later] Won't delve into it. Caught off guard. Will take our experience from a batting point of view, we'll trust the boys."
8.18pm Well, the powerplay in the second innings did give Joburg Super Kings a small scare, but eventually the effort from Subrayen, Gleeson, and the other bowlers in the first innings ensured Durban's Super Giants simply didn't have enough runs to pose a challenge even if they started well with the ball. Rilee Rossouw continues his good SA20 2025-26 season form and Shubham Ranjane, someone the franchise has shown faith in for this tournament, was busy enough and was a good partner on a difficult surface. Ferreira wrapped it all up in a hurry. Also a big NRR boost and deficit for the winning and losing teams.
