9:08pm: Frustratingly, but perhaps not unexpected, the match has been abandoned since the lightning situation hasn't improved and it has started to rain as well. That will be all for what was expected to be a fascinating contest. Both teams will share points. Thank you for sticking around and for your company. The match report by Firdose Moonda will be up soon. See you tomorrow in hopes of better weather and riveting action

Andrew B: "This might sound crazy to most people on here, but as fan of both cricket and baseball I think it's time for a revolution in T20 cricket. It's been the same for far too long. I say split the game into 4 innings of 5 overs per side. That way you can have a result if a game is abandoned due to weather, as long as at least one full inning (for both sides) is completed. It would eliminate DLS, and would be far better experience for the paying customer. Just my $0.02 "

Daryn : "big storm just hit south JHB. hope it doesnt head to the Bullring "

Mustafa Moudi : "With so much Rain Affected Games and Lot of other leagues going on at the same time (BBL, ILT20, BPL), why doesnt this League Played in other months ??South Africa doesnt have a Hectic International Schedule too !!"

8:25pm: Still around 30 minutes before we start losing overs. Spectators are glued to their seats, waiting eagerly for the action to resume. We'll keep you updated

The umpires have not deemed it safe to resume play due to the persistent lightning and overcast conditions

Good comeback from Paarl Royals! At one stage, Super Giants were on course for a 200-plus total but they managed to pull things back a bit. James Vince was phenomenal with his 74 and Faf du Plessis supported him well from his end. De Villiers added 30 but all of them perished and couldn't inject impetus into the death overs. Bjorn Fortuin conceded 35 and went wicketless while Sikandar Raza was the pick of the bowlers, flummoxing Faf du Plessis with an absolute peach in his first over. We will be back shortly with the reply

Looks like there will be a longer delay than we anticipated and the players are going off the field until the floodlight is fixed. Let's hope we get live action soon. It's a good opportunity to grab a snack or take a stroll

Rayen: "Small boundaries but JSK not going or not even trying to go aerial might haunt them. There may be demons on this pitch but if you swing hard even mistimed hits can clear the boundaries. Vince could have cleared some instead of playing old style. "

Viljoen to Ferreira, no run, Around the wicket, shorter in length and kept curbing away from off-stump, shaped for a shot towards midwicket and could not connect, admonishes himself after chewing up a dot.
