And that's it from us here. Hang around for the second game this evening!
Kagiso Rabada is named the player of the match. "Every run at the death was crucial to defend. Unfortunately, it didn't go our way. We didn't want to think too much about last year. This year we were much tighter as a group. But unfortunately inexperience played its part., No one's blaming anyone but we're playing patchy cricket and not putting together consistent performances." Believes the Durban Super Giants are the strongest side.
"Great performance from us," Parnell says. "Really impressive from the bowling and batting group." He agrees that 163 was a shade below par, saying the Capitals would have been happy with anything under 175. "To restrict them to less than that was good." Praises de Bruyn and Muthuswamy. "He just keeps finding ways to get involved in the game, regardless of whether it's with bat or ball. He hurts you in different ways to someone like Pollard."
"First of all well played to the Capitals," Pollard says. "Thanks to the fans for supporting us but very very disappointed. We lacked attention to detail in certain times. Finishing off overs, starting overs, bowling in tandem."
Doesn't really answer why he didn't bowl the final over of Liam Livingstone. Says he was trying different things. "I think we left about 15-20 runs out there. I was looking at somewhere around 180."
Thanks the Cape Town crowd, and apologises for not making the playoffs.
At this stage, the Capitals are in the top four, though a win for the Jo'burg Super Kings would see them pip the Capitals to fourth place when they take each other on later this evening
