8.03pm The players are shaking hands. Which means we have a second washout of the day. Both teams get two points each, which means DSG have now moved to third on the points table. A second no-result for them. They now have eight points, same as the fourth-placed Paarl Royals, but Royals have two games in hand. So that's all from us for today. See you soon.
7.45pm From my very rough calculation, we have 60 minutes to start a five-over game.
Haider : "Good evening.. i am 20km away from centurion cricket stadium... its heavy rain out side also lighting . No hopes for cricket match tonight.."
George : "I stay close to the stadium, more thunderstorms in the air"
Shadow-Shell: "Have the passing shower pass yet?" -- Not yet, the wait is still on.
A K: "Will we lose more overs?" -- Yes, in all certainty.
7.15pm Looks like it's just a passing shower. But the covers are on for now.
Zander: "Raindrops have started falling again" -- Well...
As far as the playing conditions are concerned, four bowlers can bowl three overs each, one can bowl four. The powerplay is till 4.5 overs.
Here are the playing XIs:
Durban's Super Giants: 1 Devon Conway 2 Kane Williamson, 3 Jos Buttler, 4 Aiden Markram (capt), 5 Heinrich Klaasen (wk), 6 Evan Jones, 7 David Wiese, 8 Eathan Bosch, 9 Daryn Dupavillon, 10 Kwena Maphaka, 11 Noor Ahmad
Pretoria Capitals: 1 Bryce Parsons, 2 Connor Esterhuizen, 3 Shai Hope (wk), 4 Wihan Lubbe, 5 Dewald Brevis, 6 Andre Russell, 7 Sherfane Rutherford, 8 Keshav Maharaj (capt), 9 Lizaad Williams, 10 Tymal Mills, 11 Lungi Ngidi
Aiden Markram says he too wanted to bowl first. DSG have also made one change: Daryn Dupavillon comes in for Simon Harmer.
6.50pm Pretoria Capitals have won the toss and decided to bowl first. Their captain Keshav Maharaj says they want to use the overhead conditions and moisture in the pitch. Russell comes in for Smeed.
6.45pm The toss will happen in five minutes. The first ball to be bowled at 7.15pm. It will be 16 overs per side.
6.30pm The players are out, the umpires are out. The covers are off. All signs that the toss is imminent.
6.15pm Theunis: "We are at the ground they are starting to remove the covers it hasnt rained in a while!" -- Yes, indeed. The covers are coming off.
Zander: "I am at the stadium. It has not been raining for 30 minutes at least. Groundsman are moving now"
6pm I have been told that the pitch is still under covers... So the wait continues.
Pandaman: "As someone who's lived in centurion for 25 years and is currently 15 minutes away from Centurion I can tell you with complete confidence, there's no cricket that's going to be played tonight. "
5.30pm Just to put it officially, the start has been delayed because of inclement weather.
Topspin: "If there can be one or two more venues in Western Cape (Stellenbosch maybe?), then the whole tournament could be played without rain interruption. "
Mike George: "@ Hemant, Will there be a result at Benoni as more than 20 overs are bowled? " -- Should be, I guess.
5pm The toss has been delayed officially. It's drizzling and quite windy out there but Chris Morris is hopeful of some action.
Dpk: "What's happening in Benoni ?" -- India U-19 are playing a one-dayer against South Africa U-19.
Arquam: "All three matches in close vicinity, Jo'burg, Centurion and Benoni, getting same treatment"
4.40pm For the record, both DSG and PC are in the bottom half of the points table. DSG are fourth with six points from four games, and PC fifth with five from three.
4.30pm Hello, everyone. Welcome to our ball-by-ball raindrop-by-raindrop coverage of SA20. The earlier game in the day, Joburg Super Kings vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape, was abandoned without a toss, and I have been warned that this one, too, could meet the same fate. The covers are on.
