There we have it, RCB's first loss of the season and DC's ascent into the top two. They can secure their playoffs spot with two more wins. Another day's gap in the WPL for now. See you for MI vs RCB. Thanks for joining us. Take care, goodnight.
Marizanne Kapp, POTM: I don't feel it's going that well. Getting rhythm after starting off slow. Just love bowling in the powerplay, enjoying the challenge. I bowl better under pressure. Still annoyed with the no-ball, lucky it didn't hit us too much. This year, it's tougher than previous years because the balls swung more then. Wickets were quicker. We're getting momentum, different people starting to pick up their hands. Hope to keep improving every game.
Jemimah Rodrigues, DC captain: Credit to the team. It's kept believing and executing plans. We were under pressure when Smriti was batting, a good catch. Minnu was excellent, Kapp was Kapp. We just kept talking about attacking the stumps..Today speaks a lot about the character. Champion teams know how to pick themselves back up. Not gotten white hair so far, really enjoying captaincy. Giving myself space to make mistakes. Last time we played RCB I held Kapp back, didn't do that today. That was the learning.
Laura Wolvaardt: Had a couple of losses, nice to be hitting a stride. Jemi was excellent, lot of good decisions. Bringing Kapp back for the fourth over. Has a lot of energy. She knows how to connect people. Looking at their dismissals, it was while playing against the line. Easier to do it while chasing 100, played it like a one-day. My catching percentage has gone up. As a specialist batter we get more time to train the fielding.
Smriti Mandhana, RCB captain: In tournaments like these, you'll take these losses. One off day, we'll take all the learnings and come back stronger. The wicket is playing different everyday. Last game it kept low, today it was spongy. We thought 140-plus was good. Credit to our bowlers. We need to work on our fielding and batting. I'll take it today than playoffs. Won't be happy with the fielding today. Knowing our girls, they'll work harder. I was telling them this was one of the toughest wickets, so thought 3-4 wickets in the powerplay would give us a chance. 30-40 runs more were needed but it happens, will take it. Sayali and Bell have been brilliant in the powerplay. Few things we can get better at taking those chances. Think the girls will work their way up.
10:34pm Not clinical but not far off either that chase. They were tactical, starting by attacking. Lee and Shafali fell early but had made some inroads. Wolvaardt then joined Rodrigues to set up the chase-defining partnership. RCB could've made more inroads if they'd taken all their chances, remember three off hand that were dropped, and all that came to roost.
