A deserved 4-1 series win for India. Very little that went wrong for them, Kishan has been on top. New Zealand will have learnings and experience in conditions that the T20 World Cup will be played in. Lest we forget, they won the ODI series. Now, we go onto the World Cup. See you for that. Thanks for joining. Goodbye.
SKY collects the trophy, made out of recycled cricket goods, and goes to the WINNERS board. He hands the trophy to Kishan and Rinku and walks to the side. The trophy is raised and a couple of cheers go off in an otherwise subdued celebration.
Suryakumar Yadav, POTS and India captain It's been a long year, long wait. I've always been dreaming of this time. I've been following the same things, routines. I knew I wasn't out of form. Very good series going into the World Cup. Feeling great. It's okay, it's sport, I took it in my stride. I spent a lot of time with my close friends, who told me what to do after the last series. I knew my time would definitely come. If you win or lose, you take something from the game. We'll sit down, analyse our games and start our campaign. It's hard on the bowlers, this format, but at the same time you need to have a good plan.
Ishan Kishan, POTM Wanted to watch the ball and play accordingly. I think the plan in this team is to go for runs even if you're close to the milestone. If the ball is there, you have to go for it and think about winning matches. I'm still not there, my focus is on World Cup. What's important is we carry the same form over there.
Mitchell Santner, NZ captain We learnt a lot of stuff. Tough to beat India in their conditions. When you're challenged a lot, it's a good thing. Results haven't gone our way, have learnings. It's not easy as a bowling unit against good batting ones.
496 runs hit today, second most ever in a T20I
Kasinathan: "Cricket is a funny game. Rinku getting a wicket while Bumrah goes wicketless"
Arshdeep Singh Great learning for me to stay in the game. That was the message from the coaching staff. It's just for the camera I look calm. Lately, I've been going for runs consistently, I'm trying to stay in the game with Morne's help. I enjoyed some of the shots Finn played, but I could've planned better. They were always going to come hard. (Huddle from SKY after the powerplay) The talk was about body language, to give it our all, and give it our best shot to restrict them under 180. Happy with individual performances, but the perfect team game hasn't come. Hope that comes in the World Cup.
10:28pm Another comprehensive win for the hosts. Lots of changes this game, their batters got going. The bowlers were given some tap, mainly by Allen at the top of the order, but after the first ten overs, the tide turned big time. Arshdeep, who went for 40 in his first two, got a five-for in the end. Varun and Axar, in particular, were threatening. Kishan's keeping had a couple of misses but the fact that he kept wickets and not Samson could be a sign of things to come in the T20 World Cup.
