"We learned from that Canterbury game," says Dean, when England had New Zealand 11 for 4 but allowed them to post a match-winning 170 for 5. "When we're on top, we are really trying to be ruthless, and we were today."

Meanwhile, Melie Kerr laments a poor end to this series from her charges: "It's a disappointing finish to the series. Throughout the series we've played some really good cricket but today was really disappointing. I guess it's better to do it now than at the World Cup.

"Losing wickets early, and losing wickets in clump - you want to set the tone and get off to a good start but we haven't been able to. We bat deep but we haven't given ourselves a chance."

Player of the series is Linsey Smith, with 6 wickets at 8.33: "Throughout the series it's being really clinical in that powerplay. Try not to leave the stumps.

"Early on, it's about getting a bit of shape, not too much turn. Throughout the back end, they're looking for a few more boundaries so it's about not being predictable."
