Sediqullah Atal, Player of the Match: First of all, I'm very happy with the way I performed and the way our team performed and won the series. I was quite sure that I would make a big innings in these two games. Alhamdulillah, I did it on this special day (his birthday), so I will remember this for a long, long time... for a lifetime. I'm quite happy with that. We spoke with each other. Everyone knows that Ibrahim had more experience. He has played a lot of cricket, so he told me that the ball would seam and swing a lot, but I should just stay positive and focus on the present. Don't think about the previous ball or the next ball. Just focus on the ball which is coming towards you. It helped me a lot. If you look at it, we have practised and worked so hard over the last couple of years because we had a very good World Cup in 2023. Now the expectations from all the fans and our team management are so high. So we work according to that, and we work so hard to beat big teams as well in the big events. We just focus on the day before and on becoming more professional and that's it

Paul Stirling, Ireland Captain: I think full credit to Afghanistan. I think that second-wicket partnership in the first innings really took the game away from us. They had the opportunity, which you don't have too often in one-day cricket, to bat us out of the game, and they effectively did that without entirely doing it. At the back end of the first innings, there were bright spots. We continued to take wickets. It was looking like it could go a lot beyond what they eventually made. Look, to be honest, I think they were on for 370 or 380, and I think we clawed it back quite well. Once we took those two wickets, Gulbadin breaking that partnership, I think we actually did really well. You saw in the back of our innings as well with the bat how many runs you can score quickly. So, yeah, we just fell short. I suppose it's been quite frustrating over the three games that, again, we were in patches. We did a lot of good stuff, but not quite enough often. That's the fun of it. You have to adapt. You can be chasing 200, you can be chasing 350. Generally, I like to take the positive option and try to take on the bowlers. I think it probably offered a little bit as well, so that was the tricky bit. I think usually when you chase 350, you think it's a completely flat pitch where you can just bat and play the ball along the ground and you'll get the runs that way. But it felt like I had to take some of the risk today, take the bowlers on, and it was starting to work, and then I got out.

Rahmat Shah, Afghanistan Captain: Thank you. Yeah, I think Sadiqullah and Ibrahim did very well. They assessed the conditions early. Before we came here, we had a target: we must make 300-plus runs. So finally, we achieved this target. Usually I come in the top order, but I think it was the team requirement. We just wanted to not break this momentum till the end. That's why my number was a little bit down. I think I already mentioned they assessed the conditions really well. They just did not try too hard. They just played their own game, waiting for the loose ball and keeping building the partnerships. Balbirnie played really well. Andrew Campher also played really well. In the middle, we took early wickets, so at that time we broke their momentum. We just wanted to continue this momentum, and that's why they needed an average of like 10 to 11 runs per over. It's really hard on this pitch, and also when you don't have wickets in hand, that makes it a little bit harder

The innings was built on fantastic hundreds from Atal and Zadran, who basically batted Ireland out of the game. A score of 344 was always going to be a stiff task but Ireland didn't just knuckle under and give up quickly. They batted almost through all the overs and this is what is laudable. Many top teams might have gone too hard too early and made peace with a heavy defeat but Ireland gave themselves a glimmer of hope and a chance. Balbirnie struck a beautiful 100, Campher got everyone excited with a quickfire 84 off 46 and suddenly the equation started to become manageable. But with the solar eclipse and light fading and not much support from the other end, Afghanistan managed to remain ahead on most occasions. Omarzai, Ahmadzai, Rashid, of course, and Ghazanfar were all fantastic. As a bowling unit, though, they would love to be more incisive when it comes to closing out a game. The visitors have an unassailable lead of 3-0 and have played spectacular cricket throughout the series
