The Hurricanes secure their spot at No. 2 for now after this win. Renegades back to the drawing board. That's all we have for you tonight on ESPNcricinfo. See you tomorrow for more BBL action. There's also the SA20 and ILT20 happening tonight so for the cricket fan in you, there's plenty available on our site. On behalf of Ranjith P, this is Sreshth Shah saying thank you and bye bye.

10.40pm Hurricanes were at 67/3 in ten overs and their chase was meandering nowhere. But then came Webster's 27, followed by Rehan's 23, and finally Wade finished things off with his unbeaten 20-ball 43. Renegades suffer their second loss in three games in BBL 2025-26 after making a game out of this match courtesy their bowling. Eventually, Wade's experience and a below-par Renegades score ensured the Hurricanes won with a whole over to spare.

Credit also to Nathan Ellis for his 3-30. He's also the Player of the Match. Ellis says "I don't feel I deserve it seeing the Old Boy take us home. I'll have a burger or chicken. We lost Tim in Perth, gained Wade, we weren't sure who would bat at No. 5, Nikhil was the one who had to slide. But that's been the mantra of the team for people to step in for whatever role they were needed to do. Nikhil was always ready to go despite his shoulder injury. I'm really proud of our spinners - Rishad and Rehan. You don't really know what to expect but they've been so reliable. Pair that with Riley and Chris Jordan and that's great. We've not had our best game so far but our bowlers have filled any gap as required.

Sandhu to Wade, FOUR, Matthew Wade, take a bow! The defending champions eventually win easily as Wade crunches a four down the ground and past mid off. Hobart Hurricanes win by four wickets

Sandhu to Wade, SIX, going, going, gone! The home fans go delirious as this innocuous short ball from Sandhu is pumped by Wade via a hook. Into the grass banks behind square leg

Sandhu to Jordan, 1 run, slower ball. Full outside off. Dragged to wide long on

1
Sandhu to Wade, 1 run, that'll bring Jordan on strike. Full ball outside off and the drive was stopped by cover. The single was dangerous too and a direct hit would've made things interesting

Sandhu to Wade, no run, back of a length ball on off. Wade's pull is inside edged onto his pad

6
Sandhu to Wade, SIX, full outside off. Wade launches a biggie over cover for six! Man in the stand grabs the ball and then gives it to a kid to throw the ball back. Wade using all his experience and the bat speed he can generate to send the ball into the night sky

MR have not won at the Bellerive Oval against HH since 2017. They've also lost four of the last five games against this side. Does that change tonight? Time for the final fourish.
