Thanks for your company tonight. Sixers now head to Brisbane on Sunday with the winner to nab the last finals spot. Sixers can finish second if they win. The winner of Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars on Saturday night will finish top with Hurricanes now needing Stars and Sixers to lose to ensure they get the double chance. Join us for those games over the weekend.
Steve Smith is player of the match: "It was a nice wicket. Knew we had to go hard from the outset. Davey played a beautiful knock. We got off to a really good start with Babar. I thought he played really nicely and set the foundation and went on from there. At the 10 over mark, Moises and Shippy said take the Surge now and I said give us one over, I want to target the short boundary. I reckon I can 30 off it and I think we took 32 in the end. It was a good Surge."
Smith has only played 11 BBL innings in the last five years. He has 699 runs at 87.37, striking at 177.41 with four centuries and three half-centuries. What a player.
10.31pm Sixers win by five wickets with 16 balls to spare. They keep their top-two hopes alive if they can beat Brisbane Heat on Sunday. Steve Smith the star with a stunning 41-ball century to trump David Warner's unbeaten 110 from 65 earlier in the night. Babar Azam played a nice hand in the 141 opening stand with Smith but he left pretty disgruntled after being dismissed shortly after Smith denied him a single to take the strike for the Surge the following over.
Bilal Anwar : "So, the next match between BH and SS will be a virtual knockout."
haroon : "poor captaincy!! why would you bowl a part timer at this stage of the game?? "
Hadley back after the mauling from Smith
15 from the over. Odd move from Warner
After that move, Smith took 32 runs against Ryan Hadley - the most expensive over in BBL history
Never before had the two of them scored hundreds in the same T20 game
