Thank you for your company. That sums up the coverage and it's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid, my co-commentator Rashad Mahbub and our scorer for this match, Chetan Kumar. See you in the Super Six
Tom Jones, New Zealand Captain: We have to give credit to the Indian team. We will take the learnings from it. We are certainly making no excuses, proud of the way the players have been consistent...ready to grow and learn from today, (yet) bitterly disappointed with today. It feels weird that we are through to the Super Six with just playing one game. We came up against a really good side, so credit to them. We have really connected as a group and I am really proud of the boys. We spend a lot of time together, we are a really tight group, win and losses can happen but we are with each other...(on areas to improve) India today have showed that we have to do the basics right for longer periods of time. There is a lot of belief in this group, two big games coming up and excited about the challenge
Ayush Mhatre, India Captain: There was a simple plan because the ball was coming nicely on to the bat. There was nothing planned (on the weather), just reacted to the ball and there was a simple plan. They were going with bouncers and I was ready for that. The boys are really confident and the coaches as well so I am very happy with the players. Boys showed the character and really good attitude. It wasn't easy for us as well due to the weather. The boys are mature enough to adapt to conditions (on weather interruptions) and they just backed their basics. They are working really hard in the nets and executing (plans) really well. My plan was to watch the ball closely and play on merit
New Zealand have been outclassed in all departments of the game and India would be mighty pleased with their performance -- ticking all the boxes and ensuring everything falls in place before the more competitive and fierce challenges that await them in the Super Six. Suryavanshi (40) and Ayush Mhatre (53) made light work of the chase. 130 was never going to perturb them, given their batting depth, which has always been the hallmark of Under-19 Indian sides that have churned out remarkable batting talent over the years. In the end, it was Vihaan Malhotra and Vedant Trivedi who slowly and carefully marched towards the target. There was nothing in it for the bowlers -- they leaked plenty and simply didn't have enough runs to defend with an all-out attack. Earlier, Ambrish and Henin wreaked havoc with the ball, striking early and never allowing New Zealand to stage a comeback. An easy day at the office for India, on a day when rain played spoilsport but didn't distract them.
RS Ambrish, Player of the Match: We did a good job and had a great start, followed by Mhatre. It was good. (On his lengths) We had a plan before, just to hit the top of off stump and stick to it. We did a good job and look to continue. (plans for future) to be contributing with both bat and ball for the team
