Scorer: Thilak Ram | Commentator: Abhimanyu Bose

11.10pm And then there were four. India will now take on England at the Wankhede, while Eden Gardens will host the other semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand. All teams have a break till March 4, when the action will be back in Kolkata, and then on March 5 in Mumbai. The Super Eight stage has gone on at breakneck speed. It was fun, calling a special game at the City of Joy. On behalf of Ekanth, Thilak and everyone else at ESPNcricinfo, it's Abhimanyu signing off.

Suryakumar Yadav: "Obviously it's a great feeling. The way we played, it was a do-or-die game and the boys showed character. [Samson's innings] See I always say good things happen to good people who wait. Who have a lot of patience. All his hard work ,what he has been doing behind the doors when he hasn't been playing, he has got the fruits for it at the perfect stage. [Thoughts after WI's innings] I feel everyone bowled according to plans. We knew 200 is always a good score to chase here with the dew and the ball coming on nicely. And the way the batters responded later on with small small partnerships, that was the key. [On being in the semis] Very happy to be there. The way we played from the first game, we deserve that spot. [On the pressure] Expectations will always be there but you should always know what you have to do on the field. I told the boys that there will be pressure and expectations of a lot of people but in games like this you have to be courageous and take positive options whenever under pressure. When there's no pressure, there is no fun. There is pressure, there are butterflies in the stomach but it's about how you understand that and how you take it."

Shai Hope: "[The total?] Maybe a few short, specially here on a chasing ground. Probably could have gone a bit more in the back end. Sanju played a really good innings as well, have to give him credit. But it would have been good if we got a few more runs. [The Bumrah double-wicket over] He's one of their strike bowlers and when he has the ball in hand something is going to happen. He broke the partnership specially in that situation where Hetty was going really well in the tournament. Just one of those crucial times in the game but yeah we got to 190-odd and gave ourselves a chance. [On the bowling] I thought we were good in the tournament. The way we adapted to different conditions. Gotta give the guys credit. Specially bowling in the powerplay. Akeal was very good, Motie as well once he came back in the team. Just couldn't get over the line today. You never want to end at this stage. One more game and we'd be in the semis and things go well and you're in the final for the big one. Must give the boys credit. We've got high standards set for ourselves. No other question for us. We have to play our best cricket on the day. We have to take the crucial moments and capitalise on them."

Sanju Samson is the POTM: "[What does the knock mean to you?] It means the whole world to me. Right from the day I started playing, started dreaming of playing for the country, this is the knock I was waiting for. Had a very special journey. Had a lot of ups and downs. kept doubting myself, thinking will I make it? But I am thankful to the almighty for blessing me today. [On approaching the knock] I've been playing this format for many years. Learned from a lot of greats like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni. That helped with my experience. I've noticed how the greats play, and seeing how they change their game according to situations. Last game we were batting first so i was going from ball one, but this game it was different. Every time I tried to go too high we were losing wickets. Didn't think I would play this special knock ,but yeah this is one of the greatest days of my life. Just stayed in the present, played the ball on the merit."

Akash: "Every struggle tends to find its glorious purpose. For years this was Sanju's bound to come today. He can finally sleep in peace leaving all his whys behind." -- Well said.

Ravi: "Despite all Ifs and Buts it has been an excellent campaign by West Indies. Feel bad for their exit but they really gave a fight."

10.50pm Until one series before the World Cup, Sanju Samson was set to be India's opener. Then, Ishan Kishan came in, Samson's form dropped and Samson was out of the team. Illness to Abhishek saw him come in from one game before going back to the bench. Then Rinku Singh had to leave the squad giving him a chance to come in. And now, playing his third game of this World Cup and India staring at a potential exit, Sanju Samson has played arguably the most critical innings of his life as he powers India into the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals. He doesn't get to a century, but it doesn't matter. I suspect he'll remember this one more than most centuries. For India, the dreams of defending the title at home are well and truly alive with this five-wicket win. For West Indies, it was a campaign where they played so well, but their streak of not making the semi-finals of a World Cup since 2016 continues.

Vaibhav: "That 19th over from Ashdeep Singh - had nailed it!!" -- Oh yes, just five runs off it when Powell and Holder were looking to tee off!

Mohammad javeed: "That 97 by gambhir and this 97 by sanju..."

Prosanjit : "Interestingly Forde didn't come to bowl 19th or 20th, and Roston Chase also didn't come. Why Hope? "

pratik: "Shai Hope is the only one that should be blamed here. when you face 30 balls your strike rate should be atleast around 140. WI would have scored 220 if he had scored at better strike rate" -- Yes, that knock definitely hurt West Indies.

Devansh : "I cant express this Innings into words as a Sanju fan for years "I am emotional""

Tahir : "Bumrah was the difference again."

Prasanna S: "Outstanding from Sanju - Such calm going after taking India home in a high pressure game. Hats off !!"

Shepherd to Samson, FOUR, Clears mid-on, and Samson has won this for India! In the slot and Samson chips it over a leaping mid-on fielder. India are into the semi-finals, West Indies' campaign comes to an end. Samson gets on his knees, takes off his helmet and says a prayer. What a knock, and what a win for India

Shepherd to Samson, SIX, Heaved over square leg and scores are level! Attempted yorker turns into a slot ball and he flicks it high and handsome square on the leg side

India need seven to win off the final over. And to make matters worse, West Indies need to have an additional fielder in the circle. Over rate penalty
