Guyana Amazon Warriors 121 for 3 (Hetmyer 49, Hope 47*) beat Antigua and Barbuda Falcons 116 (Jangoo 37, Shamar 3-22, Tahir 2-25, Pierre 2-19) by seven wickets

The combined power of Khary Pierre, Imran Tahir and Shamar Joseph, who picked up seven wickets between them, was too much for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to handle as they lost a one-sided CPL 2026 contest to Guyana Amazon Warriors by seven wickets on Sunday.

Tahir, whose Amazon Warriors came into match with two wins in two, won the toss and chose to field, and Pierre, opening the bowling, found his way past Rahkeem Cornwall and Karima Gore in the two overs he sent down, leaving Falcons at 49 for 2 after the powerplay.

That wasn't too bad, but it got worse very quickly after that. By the 12th, Tahir had sent back Hasan Nawaz, and Amir Jangoo, who top-scored with 37 in 29 balls, had become Glenn Phillips' victim.

Kusal Perera was run out after a moment of panic, and then the quicks took over, Shamar accounting for Joshua James first and then wrapping up the lower order, while Romario Shepherd had Moeen Ali's number.

The target of 117 was unlikely to test the defending champions, and it didn't, even though 16 for 2 in the third over wasn't ideal. But a 99-run stand between Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope for the third wicket, the runs coming in just 42 balls, took Amazon Warriors to within two runs of the target.

Hetmyer hit 49 in just 19 balls with a four and six sixes before becoming the third man to be dismissed, and Quentin Sampson walked out, whacked the first ball he faced, off Shamar Springer, for six straight down the ground, and that was that. Hope remained unbeaten on 47 from 26 balls, with two fours and four sixes.

Amazon Warriors now have three wins in three games and are right on top of the points table, while Falcons, despite the battering in this game, are in third place, also on three wins but from six games. St Lucia Kings are between them in second place.
