David Warner: "I think at the beginning we thought 170 was probably going to be par. We lost a few wickets in the middle there with a few poor stroke selections, including myself. But all in all, the way that Mo played in the partnership towards the back end to get us to a good total was fantastic. I think the way our spinners operated in the middle, they bowled well to bring it back and build some pressure. We got the wickets and the rewards for that after the powerplay. [Thoughts after the Powerplay] Obviously, with Adam Zampa, I wasn't concerned. It was just more about how we could execute to actually bring it back. I think by consuming some dots and only allowing them to get singles and maybe the odd boundary, that's how we try and build pressure to create wickets and chances. I think the way they did that was fantastic. Zampa is a great addition to our team, and it's handy having Alec and Moeen Ali there to bowl some off-spin too. [Team energy] Yeah, look, I think all the energy is going very well. We've played in times like this where there's been no crowd and you can sort of fade away a little bit as players. But I think what the boys are looking for is Padel tomorrow night, so that's where all the energy will be. [Are you the number one Padel player?] Look, our manager, Haider Ali, thinks he's the best [laughter]."

Player of the Match, Moeen Ali: "[Facing Abrar and Tariq] Obviously, two very good spinners. I've never really faced them that much before, and the wicket wasn't as good as probably how we started. We started amazingly well in the powerplay; both teams did. But then it wasn't so easy to hit the ball. You just had to try and play good cricketing shots and not panic. I think years ago I would have panicked, but a bit of experience helps. I'm pretty calm [always]. I kind of know when I need to go, but even then, I'm still pretty calm about things. You play a lot of cricket, and you just know how to handle those situations. [Tariq] He's just very different. Obviously, he's a world-class spinner. I think he breaks your rhythm as a batter, but I just tried to delay everything as much as I could. [Bowling] Just trying to spin the ball first of all. Early on in the powerplay, a bit fuller as there was a bit of grip. Then later on, depending on the situation, you try and bowl back of a length, trying to hit the top of the stumps. [Kick-start the season] Yeah, it's always nice to get the points on the board first of all, but it's very early. We have things to improve on, but it's a great start in the tournament, and like I said, to get the two points even if it's an ugly win."

Anu: "I really think Pakistani batsmen have a problem chasing big totals. If Mcdermott had come in instead of Nawaz, they wouldnt have been chasing 30 off the last over. Maybe 13. They may have still lost but would have been closer at least."

Shadow-Shell: "Both teams had a great powerplay. Both struggled in the middle overs. Difference being that Kings bounced back at the death, while Gladiators just succumbed to the pressure"

10:28 pm The Kings pulled off a calm and well-earned comeback with the ball, backed up by sharp fielding that gave the Gladiators almost nothing to work with. At first though, it looked like the Gladiators had things under control. Their openers came out firing and made full use of the powerplay, racing to 75 runs without losing a wicket. Shamyl led the charge with a blistering half-century off just 21 balls, the second fastest in the team's history, and set up the chase perfectly before departing for 52 runs off 24 balls. But just like in the Kings' innings earlier, the game shifted once the spinners came into play. The runs started to dry up, boundaries became harder to find and the pressure quietly built. The real turning point came in the 16th over; Rossouw got out, and Hasan Ali conceded only two runs. From there, the asking rate increased up to 14 runs an over, and despite still having wickets in hand, the Gladiators couldn't find anyone to finish as Moeen Ali had earlier. Hasan Ali, in particular, turned things around impressively; after an expensive start, he came back to finish with 4 for 27. In the end, the Gladiators were left to regret their earlier mistakes in the field, and Shamyl's explosive start went in vain. The Kings stayed disciplined when it mattered most and walked away with the points. Post match stuff is coming up shortly.
