T20 World Cup - 'West Indies look the weakest in their seam department,' says du Plessis (3:44)

177 - The target that South Africa successfully chased down against West Indies in Ahmedabad is the highest by them in men's T20Is where they have lost just one wicket. The previous highest they had successfully chased with only one down was 174, also against West Indies in Paarl last month.

One-seventy-seven is also the highest any team has successfully chased at men's T20 World Cups while losing no more than one wicket.

264 - Runs scored by Aiden Markram in this tournament so far are the most for South Africa in one edition of the men's T20 World Cup. Markram is also the first South Africa batter with three fifties in an edition of this competition.

89 - Partnership for the eighth wicket between Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd. It is the highest eighth-wicket partnership in T20Is, bettering the 80-run stand by Scotland's Peter Mommsen and Safyaan Sharif against Netherlands in 2015.

The 89-run partnership is also the second-highest in T20Is for the eighth or a lower wicket, behind the unbeaten 132-run ninth-wicket stand between Belgium's Saber Zakhil and Saqlain Ali against Austria in 2021.

105 - Runs added by West Indies after being six down for 71, making them the first team to add 100-plus runs after the fall of the sixth wicket at the men's T20 World Cup. The previous highest was 93 runs by India against Australia in 2010.

Holder and Shepherd's 89-run partnership is also the highest by any pair for the seventh or lower wicket at the World Cup, bettering the 84-run seventh-wicket stand between Mitchell Santner and Cole McConchie against Sri Lanka just a day before.

52* - Shepherd's score while batting at No. 9 against South Africa. He is the first batter to score a fifty while batting outside of top seven at the men's T20 World Cup. Rashid Khan's 48* at No. 8 against Australia in 2022 was the previous highest score, while Shafiqullah Shafiq's 35* against England in 2016 was the previous highest at No. 9 or lower.

1 - Individual scores higher than Shepherd's 52* while batting at No. 9 or lower in T20Is . Austria's Hamid Safi had scored an unbeaten 15-ball 58 against Slovenia at No. 9 in 2025. Shepherd is also one of the four batters with a fifty while batting at No. 9 or lower in T20Is.

53 - Dot balls in West Indies' innings, despite which they ended up scoring 176 for 8 in 20 overs. Only one team has scored a higher total despite facing 50-plus dot balls at men's T20 World Cups: 178 by Italy against England earlier this tournament, where they had 54 dots in their innings.

West Indies' innings included 126 boundary runs, which translates to 71.59% of the team's total, the fifth-highest for a 150-plus total at the men's T20 World Cup.

66 - Total sixes hit by West Indies in this World Cup so far are the most by any team in an edition of the men's T20 World Cup. The 62 sixes hit by West Indies in 2024 were the previous most.

10 - Boundaries struck by West Indies batters off Marco Jansen. He is one of six bowlers to concede ten or more boundaries in a men's T20 World Cup game. Jansen ended up conceding 50 runs in his four overs despite bowling 12 dot balls.

Only one other bowler gave away 50-plus runs despite 12 or more dot balls in a men's T20I (where ball-by-ball data is available). Matheesha Pathirana conceded 56, including 13 extras against Bangladesh in 2024.

5-1 - South Africa's win-loss record against West Indies at the men's T20 World Cups. Their lone defeat came in Nagpur in 2016. West Indies have an unfavourbale win-loss record against only two teams at the T20 World Cups: South Africa and Sri Lanka, against whom they are 2-6.
