Toss Chennai Super Kings chose to bowl vs Gujarat Titans
Ruturaj Gaikwad called correctly as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opted to bowl on a red-soil surface he felt would have "some pace and bounce" at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
They made two changes: Gurjapneet Singh, the left-arm seamer, and batting allrounder Matt Short replaced Akeal Hosein and Prashant Veer, the two left-arm spin allrounders.
As reported earlier, MS Dhoni won't be playing. In fact he isn't even at the venue, having returned home to Ranchi to nurse a finger injury. It's likely Kartik Sharma, who has impressed at No. 4 in recent matches, will come in as the Impact Sub for CSK.
Meanwhile, hosts Gujarat Titans (GT) plan to bring back fast bowler Prasidh Krishna in place of left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore. Batting first, Prasidh has been listed in their Impact Subs.
CSK have to win with a big margin to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. GT are eyeing a top-two finish, having already secured a 'Q' next to their name on the points table.
