The Blues haven't had much turnover in the offseason. The loss of Matt Gilkes to South Australia is a blow given he has been a regular in both formats but it opens the door for youngsters to step in under a new coaching regime led by Brad Haddin. WA pacer Bryce Jackson has moved across after being squeezed off WA's list having been only a white-ball bowler for them. Former Australia Under-19 Harjas Singh has been given a rookie contract. Meanwhile Blake Nikitaras has headed to Queensland as an uncontracted player and Chris Tremain has retired.

They also picked up NSW wicketkeeper-batter Matt Gilkes to bolster their keeping depth with Alex Carey set to miss most of next season with Test duty. Allrounder Noah McFadyen has been rewarded for dominant grade form while Jerrssis Wadia has been added after a breakout BBL. Shield winning opener Conor McInerney and experienced batter Daniel Drew have both lost their contracts.

Nikhil Chaudhary also comes onto the list full-time after becoming a key player last year in all forms. Teague Wyllie has also moved from WA for more opportunity.

Victoria have kept their Shield runners-up squad together although the most notable part of their squad is the absence of Matt Short who has opted to not take a contract and pursue freelance T20 opportunities after losing his CA deal. But he will still make himself available to play Shield an One-Day cricket when he is not overseas. Glenn Maxwell is also open to playing state One-Day cricket despite having retired from ODI cricket and not being on CA's list. Xavier Crone and Callum Stow have been left off the list but will still be in the mix to play for Victoria while Jai Lemire has moved interstate.
