England Women have named five uncapped players in their squad of 15 for next month's one-off Test against India at Lord's.
Alice Capsey, who has appeared 89 times for England in limited-overs internationals, could make her first Test appearance, with 18-year-old Tilly Corteen-Coleman among those competing for debuts. Mady Villiers, the Durham allrounder who has played three ODIs and 19 T20Is, and uncapped Lancashire pair Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld are the others.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is currently captaining England's T20 World Cup campaign from the sidelines after the recurrence of a calf strain, will lead England out for a historic first women's Test at Lord's, fitness permitting. The four-day match is due to start on July 10, five days after the World Cup final on the same ground.
Issy Wong, whose one Test appearance came in 2022, and Emma Lamb (two caps) are back in contention. Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Ryana MacDonald-Gay are the three players who featured in England's last Test, against Australia at the MCG during the 2024-25 Ashes, to miss out this time around.
Tammy Beaumont, 35, who is yet to feature for England in any format this summer, is another notable inclusion.
Seam-bowling allrounders Freya Kemp and Dani Gibson are both rested after the T20 World Cup, while Charlie Dean - who returned from a back niggle ahead of schedule to captain in last month's ODIs against New Zealand - was also left out to manage her workload.
"We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord's for women's cricket," Clare Connor, the ECB's managing director of women's cricket, said.
"Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women's game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord's, it will be a moment to savour."
India named their squad for the one-off Test last month, with seamer Nandani Sharma and left-arm spinner N Shree Charani both winning call-ups.
England Test squad: Nat Sciver-Brunt (capt), Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Grace Potts, Ellie Threlkeld, Mady Villiers, Issy Wong.
