4 Mitchell Starc (6 for 12) and Shoriful Islam (6 for 35) became the fourth pair to take six-wicket hauls on the first day of a men's Test during the second Test between Australia and Bangladesh, on Saturday, in Mackay.
The other three pairs are: Sydney Barnes and Monty Noble in Melbourne in 1902, Aubrey Faulkner and Colin Blythe at Leeds in 1907, and Frank Worrell and Bill Johnston in Adelaide in 1951.
3 Starc and Shoriful recorded only the third instance of two left-arm pacers taking six-wicket hauls in the same men's Test. Alan Davidson and Ian Meckiff were the previous such pair, having done so in Melbourne in 1958-59.
Worrell and Johnston, listed as mixed bowlers, did the same in 1951, bowling medium pace on a wet opening day in Adelaide.
4 Instances of Starc taking a wicket on the first ball of a Test, the most by any bowler. He surpassed Pedro Collins, who did it on three occasions.
Starc has now taken a wicket on the very first ball of a Test innings on five occasions. Only Richard Hadlee (six) has done it more often than Starc.
22 Balls Starc took to complete his five-wicket haul, the sixth-fastest recorded five-for in men's Tests in terms of balls bowled. Starc recorded the fastest five-for last year, against West Indies, when he completed one in just 15 balls.
Later, Shoriful completed his five-for in 8.5 overs, the second-fastest for Bangladesh, behind Taijul Islam's five-for in 6.5 overs against West Indies in 2018.
28 Wickets for Starc in the first over of the opposition's innings in Tests. It is the second-highest tally for any bowler in the format, only one behind James Anderson (29).
Overall, Starc now has nine wickets in the first over of a Test - also the most for a bowler, bettering Anderson's tally of eight.
6.4 Overs into the Mackay Test in which Starc completed his five-for. It is the second-earliest any bowler has taken a five-wicket haul into a Test. It took Stuart Broad only 6.1 overs into the 2015 Nottingham Test against Australia to complete his five-for.
It is also the third-earliest any bowler has taken a five-for in a Test innings, with the earliest being 4.3 overs, also by Starc against West Indies last year.
8 Starc has now taken a five-wicket haul against all eight opponents he has faced in Tests. Among Australians, Shane Warne and Nathan Lyon also have five-fors against eight different sides.
Starc also has six or more wickets in a Test innings against seven opponents. Only five other bowlers have taken six-fors against seven or more different opponents in Tests, all being spinners from Asia - Muthiah Muralidaran (nine), Rangana Herath (nine), Anil Kumble (seven), Harbhajan Singh (seven) and R Ashwin (seven).
4 Bangladesh batters in the top six who got out for a duck, and were dismissed by Starc. It is only the second instance of a bowler dismissing four of the top six for a duck in a men's Test innings. The other was by Nathan Smith against Ireland in May.
64 Bangladesh's total in Mackay is their fourth-lowest in Tests, and their lowest against Australia. It is also the third-lowest in the first innings of a men's Test in Australia. The lowest is 36 all out by South Africa in Melbourne in 1932, while England made 45 in Sydney in 1887.
The 64 by Bangladesh is also the lowest in the first-ever Test innings at a venue, as it came on Mackay's Test debut. The previous lowest was 84 by South Africa against England in 1889, the first-ever Test at St George's Park in Gqeberha. It was also marked as South Africa's Test debut.
Mackay also became only the fourth venue to record a wicket on its very first ball in men's Test cricket, after Jalandhar, Jaipur and Pallekele.
14 Shoriful was the top-scorer in Bangladesh's first innings for his 14 runs. It is the 13th instance of a No. 11 batter top-scoring in a men's Test innings, and the second for Bangladesh after Talha Jubair against India in 2004.
Shoriful equalled Lyon with the lowest score by a No. 11 batter who top-scored in an innings, with Lyon also having scored 14 in Australia's 47 all out in Cape Town in 2011.
