As the Pittsburgh Steelers have descended from "perennial powerhouse" to "playoff possibility" in recent years, Mike Tomlin continued to make the most out of a middling roster.
Along with his lack of losing seasons, he also exceeded expectations by propelling Pittsburgh past its win total in six straight seasons. The Steelers also cashed AFC North tickets as a +550 long shot to win the division, knocking off the Ravens in a thrilling Week 18 showdown. But they fell short in the playoffs again before Tomlin stepped down. In comes Mike McCarthy to reunite with Aaron Rodgers for one last hurrah, but this team seems to be continuing along a similar trajectory. -- Kevin Pulsifer

2026 outlook:
On tap for 2026, we have one final season for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Maybe. Hopefully. Football god's willing, McCarthy reuniting with Rodgers sparks a resurgence in play that has eluded Rodgers in recent years.
The Steelers did add to their meager cache of weapons with the trade acquisition of Michael Pittman Jr. and drafting of Germie Bernard in the second round. But in all likelihood, Pittsburgh will be a middling team trying to keep afloat in the playoff race. This team is in a sort of football purgatory with an aging-out QB and no clear direction for the franchise's future and, as a result, the Steelers are sure to be one of the least-bet teams heading into the NFL season. -- Daniel Dopp

Pittman topped this line for five consecutive seasons while playing with the Indianapolis Colts and a cavalcade of QBs. Now in Pittsburgh with Rodgers under center, Pittman will once again retain his role as a trusted middle-of-the-field safety valve for his veteran signal-caller. -- Dopp
