But its a hallmark of good teams and well-built front offices to never be satisfied and to not get complacent, which explains why the Rams went out and traded for superstar Myles Garrett and appear to be on the brink of nudging Aaron Donald out of retirement. Last season's squad kicked off the season with 10-1 odds to win the NFC, and they were a bounce or two away from cashing those tickets. At 38 years old, Stafford has dealt with recurring back issues in recent seasons, creating a legitimate risk that he misses time or has his workload managed. Even if he stays healthy, the Rams' loaded roster and improved defense could lead to more favorable game scripts, allowing McVay to lean on the running game instead of asking Stafford to throw 35-plus times every week.
