The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Friday that they have claimed outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Hazelbaker, 29, batted .235/.295/.480 in 114 games last season, his first in the majors. He had 12 home runs and 28 RBIs in 200 at-bats.
Hazelbaker had a strong start to 2016 but saw his at-bats decrease from 124 before the All-Star break to 76 afterward. He had 16 hits in the second half compared with 31 in the first, and 19 first-half RBIs compared to nine in the second half.
