Lendeborg's double-double leads Warriors past Mavericks

In a matchup of former college teammates, Yaxel Lendeborg's double-double helped the Golden State Warriors secure a 101-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks and Morez Johnson Jr. in their Las Vegas summer league opener Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Lendeborg, the No. 11 pick in the 2026 draft, finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Warriors. LJ Cryer led all Golden State scorers with 25 points, knocking down five 3-pointers and adding six rebounds and four assists. Lachlan Olbrich contributed 12 points, and second-round pick Lajae Jones added 11 points off the bench.

For the Mavericks, Johnson, the No. 9 pick, led all scorers with 27 points to go with eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Ryan Nembhard posted 15 points and a game-high 11 assists, while John Poulakidas scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers. First-round pick Sergio de Larrea added nine points and five assists. Fellow rookies Vsevolod Ishchenko and Tobi Lawal contributed seven and points, respectively.

Lendeborg and Johnson were key members of Michigan's national championship team just months ago.

Golden State built a 24-point lead and appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win. However, Dallas mounted a comeback, orchestrating an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to five points with 4:33 left in the fourth quarter.

Cryer halted the Mavericks' momentum with a 3-pointer to push their lead to six. Lendeborg then helped secure the win in the final minutes, converting a three-point play with 1:09 left to restore a 10-point lead. He followed that with a layup and a dunk.

Up next: The Mavericks play the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. The Warriors play the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
