Kaluma, fourth-quarter surge lift Lakers

Arthur Kaluma scored a game-high 34 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 91-70 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in NBA summer league play Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Kaluma was 11-of-16 shooting from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range, and added five rebounds. Adou Thiero contributed 15 points and four rebounds, while rookie Peter Suder scored 14 points off the bench. Chris Manon added 10 points and eight rebounds. The Lakers played without their 2026 first-round draft pick, Cameron Carr, who was sidelined with a thumb contusion.

Ryan Nembhard led the Mavericks with 12 points and five assists. Morez Johnson Jr., the No. 9 pick in the draft, finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks but was limited by foul trouble. Fellow first-round selection Sergio de Larrea had five points and four assists. Second-round picks Tobi Lawal and Vsevolod Ishchenko each scored eight points for Dallas.

The game was a tight contest through the first half, with Los Angeles holding a 47-44 lead at the break. However, the Lakers seized control after halftime, extending their lead to 10 by the end of the third quarter. They blew the game open with an 18-0 run in the fourth quarter that turned a 67-59 advantage into an insurmountable 85-59 lead.
