Wizards guard John Wall to play against Cavaliers, sit against Bulls

WASHINGTON -- John Wall will be held out of the Washington Wizards' game Saturday at Chicago as coach Scott Brooks attempts to manage the All-Star guard's minutes.

Brooks had said Wall would not play both halves of a back-to-back set. Wall was set to play Friday night at home against the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

Wall is coming off surgery on each knee. He has been ejected in each of his past two games -- Monday versus Houston and Wednesday versus Boston -- and he also was fined $25,000 for inappropriate interaction with an official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner.

Backcourt mate Bradley Beal missed the Cavaliers game because of a tight right hamstring. He left the Wizards' 118-93 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday with the injury.

Brooks said Beal, who is averaging 15.4 points and 2.4 assists per game this season, was considered day to day and would be evaluated again Saturday to determine his status for the Bulls game.

Brooks said Marcus Thornton would start in Beal's place against the Cavaliers.
