News: 7 hours agoRudolph will not play in Friday's preseason game against the Jets, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
Spin: Coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that he "saw what I need to see from Mason last week," implying the veteran quarterback has a place on the team for 2026. Friday's game will be dominated by Will Howard and Drew Allar, one of whom is presumably the Steelers' quarterback of the future once Aaron Rodgers retires.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Rudolph is expected to return as the clipboard holder in Pittsburgh, with Aaron Rodgers back as the starter. The veteran quarterback has never appeared in more than 10 games in a single season and made just one start in 2025 (he threw for 171 yards and one TD on 31 attempts). Rudolph has thrown 30 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in his six-year career, and isn't much of a rushing threat (career 75-209-1). The 31-year-old wouldn't even be a QB2 option in superflex if called on to start.
