JACKSONVILLE, Fla.. -- The Jaguars have signed defensive end Bjoern Werner, a former first-round of the Indianapolis Colts.
Werner, the 24th overall pick in 2013, was cut by the Colts in March after never living up to expectations coming out of Florida State. He recorded just 6.5 sacks in 38 games.
Werner started only one game as a rookie and recorded 2.5 sacks. He had 4.0 sacks in 15 starts in 2014, but he dropped out of the starting lineup in 2015 and didn't have a sack in 10 games.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound Werner is expected to compete at the pass-rushing end (what the Jaguars call the leo) behind Dante Fowler Jr., last year's first round pick, and Yannick Ngakoue, who was the team's third-round pick this year.
