NFL player Frank Kearse suffered knife wound after alleged domestic dispute

An NFL defensive lineman most recently with the New England Patriots suffered a knife wound Wednesday after an alleged dispute with his girlfriend at their apartment.

According to a police report filed Thursday, 27-year-old Frank Kearse was treated at hospitals in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Providence, Rhode Island, for a knife wound to his upper abdomen.

According to the Attleboro Sun Chronicle, the incident occurred when the two were arguing while moving boxes. Both had initially told police that Kearse had suffered the injury handling a box containing knives, but Dominique Hooper, Kearse's girlfriend, allegedly began to cry and admitted to brandishing the knife. Kearse had held up a box to protect himself.

Kearse was released after treatment and appeared in court with Hooper. She is free on $1,000 cash bail and is due back in court with a lawyer Sept. 30.

Kearse, who signed with Patriots during the offseason, was released by the team last week. The Alabama A&M product is a veteran of five NFL seasons and has spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins.
