NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans are waiving quarterback Will Levis, sources told ESPN.
Levis posted 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2024, the last time he saw the football field. The Titans finished with a 3-14 record that set them up to select quarterback Cam Ward with the top pick last year.
He missed the entire 2025 season after being placed on injured reserve before training camp. He elected to have surgery on his right shoulder before last season, causing him to miss the season.
Tennessee signed veteran quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year, $10.5 million contract before the season. Trubisky is a proven backup with experience working in offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's system with the Buffalo Bills. Trubisky got most of the reps behind starter Ward during team camp.
Levis' time with the Titans has been a roller-coaster ride since he was selected by the franchise in the second round of the 2023 draft. The Titans traded the No. 41 overall pick, No. 72 overall pick (third round) in 2023 and a 2024 third-round draft pick to move up to the No. 33 spot to select Levis. At the time, the trade was made with the hopes to find the successor to Ryan Tannehill as the team's starting quarterback.
He completed 19 of his 29 pass attempts for 238 yards and four touchdowns to lead Tennessee to a 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons in his first start on Oct 29, 2023, and posted a 3-6 record as the team's starter that season.
Tennessee then finished with a 2-10 record with Levis as a starter in 2024.
"Very grateful," Levis said when asked about his time with the Titans. "Ms. Amy [Adams-Strunk] brought me in here and welcomed me with opens arms as well as everyone in Nashville with the team. I grew a lot in my time with the Titans and wouldn't trade the experience for anything."
