Pittsburgh Penguins left wing Tom Sestito was suspended four games by the NHL for his hit Wednesday night on Winnipeg defenseman Toby Enstrom.
The Penguins had called up Sestito for the game, with bad blood brewing between the teams after an incident earlier this season in which the Penguins' Evgeni Malkin caught Blake Wheeler with a hit to the head but drew only a minor penalty.
Wheeler sought retribution, starting a fight with Malkin early in the first period. Seconds later, Jets forward Chris Thorburn dropped the gloves with Sestito.
Later in the first period, Sestito rammed Enstrom into the boards from behind, drawing a five-minute major penalty, 10-minute misconduct and game misconduct.
Sestito, who has 495 penalty minutes in 150 games played in the NHL, had just 1:02 of ice time but 20 minutes in penalties before his ejection.
Enstrom was sent to a hospital after the game to be checked out for facial fractures.
