          Hurricanes power past clueless Jaguares

The Hurricanes will return home to Wellington happy after a bonus-point 34-9 win over the Jaguares in Buenos Aires.

Looking to bounce back from last week's shock loss to the Bulls in Pretoria, the Hurricanes made hard work of their victory at times but still had far too much class for a Jaguares team again extremely poor in defence.

The Argentinians made just 59 percent of their tackles on Saturday night, gifting the Hurricanes attacking opportunities which the visitors did their best to squander.

But the 2016 Super Rugby champions eventually got it together, scoring three tries inside the final 27 minutes to run away with what was otherwise a scrappy encounter.

The Hurricanes had earlier led 12-6 at the break following tries to winger Ben Lam and All Blacks centre Ngani Laumape, the midfielder's five-pointer a determined effort that saw him power through three Jaguares defenders before wrestling the ball down over the tryline.

The Jaguares closed the gap to just three points via Nicolas Sanchez's third penalty upon the resumption, before the Hurricanes answered through Matt Proctor who finished off some smart work from Julian Savea and TJ Perenara. And they put the game beyond doubt, despite a yellow card to prop Ben May, when Vince Aso ran onto a Beauden Barrett grubber to score under the posts 11 minutes later.

The Hurricanes iced the victory on fulltime with their fifth five-pointer, replacement Blade Thompson scoring out wide after he worked a superb one-two combination with prop Alex Fidow that featured a brilliant flick pass from the back of the hand.
