The Jaguares are one step closer the Super Rugby playoffs after they beat the Sharks 29-13 in a scrappy Super Rugby clash in Buenos Aires on Friday night.

The Argentine team managed to get an all-important bonus-point win over one of their closest rivals for a wild-card spot. The Jaguares scored four tries to one to record their sixth successive victory.

The Jaguares moved up to fifth overall on the Super Rugby log, while the Sharks slipped to ninth and outside the playoff positions.

The Jaguares led 8-0 after the half-hour mark following a penalty by Nicolas Sanchez and the first of a hat trick of tries by left wing Ramiro Moyano.

Monyano scored his second try in the 33rd minute after the Sharks conceded a penalty five metres from their own line. The Jaguares took a quick tap before Moyano ran in to score almost untouched.

The Sharks finally got on the board shortly before the break when captain Ruan Botha went over the whitewash following a powerful maul.

Flyhalf Robert Rob du Preez slotted two penalties for the Sharks shortly after the break, but the Jaguares increased their lead to 24-13 when outside centre Bautista Delguy crossed the line.

The Sharks' misery was compounded when captain Botha was given a straight red card with a dangerous tackle, which could see him miss more matches after the June break.

The Jaguares got their bonus-point try in the last minute of the game when Sharks centre Lukhanyo Am was penalised for a ruck infringement and Sanchez kicked for the corner.

The Jagaures secured the lineout before Moyano cut through the Sharks defence to secure his hat trick.
