Chennaiyin v Kolkata
Helder Postiga nets brace as Atletico Kolkata beat Chennaiyin in ISL
The opening match of this year's Indian Super League saw reigning champions Atletico Kolkata beat Chennaiyin (who finished top of the league before the playoffs) 3-2 at the Marina Arena.
Atletico were lifted by two goals from ex-Tottenham and Porto striker Helder Postiga, while in between Jeje Lalpeklhua had hit an equaliser for Chennaiyin.
Spanish striker Valdo made it 3-1 and Atletico had a chance to extend their lead further but Javi Lara's penalty was saved by Eder. Elano pulled a goal back with a late spot-kick for the hosts but it was not enough.
Former Preston and Tranmere striker Ian Hume said after the game: "We're extremely satisfied. It's a tough to place to come as we know. These guys were top of the league last year. So it's a nice little victory and three points is three points."
