Chelsea duo Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer are set to miss out on England's 2026 World Cup squad, sources confirmed to ESPN, with Harry Maguire also revealing he is not part of the 26-man party.

Thomas Tuchel will announce his England squad on Friday morning, but news broke on Thursday night of players who have missed out on selection. Sources said Palmer is not in the 26-man party, while Colwill is also absent.

Colwill made his comeback from an ACL injury in Chelsea's defeat to Nottingham Forest earlier in May, and started in their FA Cup final loss to Manchester United.

Palmer's had an injury-troubled season, and struggled for form, but has been a key figure for England, scoring in the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain. His omission is a surprise.

Multiple reports suggest Phil Foden's place is in doubt, while Luke Shaw and Fikayo Tomori could also face being left out. Kobbie Mainoo is expected to be included, as is Newcastle's Tino Livramento.

Maguire confirmed he's not travelling to the World Cup on Instagram earlier on Thursday. Maguire wrote: "I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had. I've been left shocked and gutted by the decision.

"I've loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years. I wish the players all the best this summer."

Maguire was recalled by Tuchel for England's last two friendlies in March after impressing for Manchester United this season.

He started their 1-1 draw with Uruguay, and was a second-half substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Japan.

He has been a central figure for England, winning 66 caps and playing in the Euro 2020 final. He missed out on Euro 2024 with a calf injury and has now been left out of the World Cup squad.
