DALLAS, Texas -- It's heartbreak for the Socceroos and jubilation for Egypt as the Pharaohs secure a first-ever knockout stage win to progress through to the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Egypt opened the scoring through Emam Ashour, before a Mohamed Hany own goal brought the game back to parity. The sides were unable to be separated after 120 minutes, with Tony Popovic rolling the dice bringing on Mathew Ryan in place of Patrick Beach for the shootout.

Harry Souttar and Lucas Herrington missed their spot kicks, while Egypt converted all of their attempts to set up a meeting with the winner of Argentina vs. Cape Verde. Re-live all the action below.
